FINANCING HEALTH CARE UNITS BY LAKHIMI GAONLIA BANK


Jorhat is the second largest city of the state of Assam and is the main business capital of Upper Assam. It may be treated as the gateway of Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh. The city is well connected by road, rail and air with other parts of the country. People of entire Upper Assam, some parts of Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh have to go to Dibrugarh or Guwahati for medical treatment. As Jorhat is situated at the middle of Assam and as the people of most part of Eastern Nagaland and Southern part of Arunachal Pradesh passes through Jorhat city, the Bank felt that if some medical units with all modern amenities can be established at Jorhat the people would be highly benefited. It will save both their time and money.

Keeping in view of the above, the Bank identified some potential entrepreneurs who would establish modern health care units at Jorhat and financed three such units so far through Jorhat branch as narrated below:

1. Cataract & IOL Hospital Pvt. Ltd- Unit Chandra Prova Eye Hospital, Jorhat: Cataract & IOL Hospital Pvt. Ltd, incorporated on 10 February 1999 has been promoted by Dr. Narayan Bordoloi who has wide and varied experience in medical services and Mrs. Chandra Prova Bordoloi. The company proposed to establish an eye care unit viz, Chandra Prova Eye Hospital at Jorhat with a total investment of Rs.108.37 lacs against which the Bank sanctioned loan of Rs.74.00 lacs. The Hospital is now equipped with all modern amenities including an eye bank named Jeuti Eye Clinic. This Eye Hospital is capable of providing treatments for all sorts of Eye ailments at par with any other super special eye hospitals of the country. Therefore, Eye patients from all over North East India has started to come to this Hospital for treatment.

2. Sanjivani Hospital, Jorhat: A group of 2 doctors and two other formed a Partnership Firm and the applied for a loan to construct a new hospital unit at Jorhat in the name of Sanjivani Hospital. The bank sanctioned Rs.36.75 lacs. This Hospital is now earning name and fame for its specializes treatment in Gynoecology and general surgery. At present is has 52 beds and there is plan to increase the number of beds in near future.

3. J.K.Bora Institute of Health Care & Research: J.K.Bora Institute of Health Care & Research will be the only Multi Specialty Hospital in upper Assam financed by Lakhimi Gaonlia Bank. It will perform, inter alia, non-invasive surgery, MRI guidance, Microwave Therapy and Proton Beam Therapy for treatment of cancer and biochips in labs, performing tasks including DNA screening and Telemedicine and Telesurgery. The unit is investing in cutting edge technology and state-of-the-art medical equipment to best treatment to its patients. Combination of professionally eminent doctors and the state-of-the-art equipment has placed the Hospital at the forefront of tertiary care center in the country and is poised to take full advantage of the development taking place in medical equipment technology revolution. The bank has financed Rs.156.75 lacs in this project.
